Danny, if you have never represented Croydon you would not be eligible for either the current or the past teams. It is not based solely on ability.

What's the format? Do we have to be in all 3 days?

Luke, three matches over three days 30 frames each day.
you can play all matches or any of the days you can manage.
just let me know what you can do so we can set it up.

Dan you should fine out how to get into the Croydon set up mate :thumb:as Croydon could do with someone like you to help them get to Yarmouth as I didn't even know, that half of them players I know have ever played for Croydon,A or the B team, some really big names in there from the past, should be a good night :band:

As far as I am aware Danny (and I might be wrong) but the only criteria required to play inter-league pool is that you are registered for the league that you will play for. I don't think you have to be a county player also to represent your league.

Because you play for London Dan, the only Interleague team you can represent is one affiliated to London (Waterloo, SLKPA etc etc)

Croydon league is affiliated to Surrey, so if you play for Croydon, you're only County choice is Surrey.

Because Croydon crosses the boundaries of Surrey and London it's a bit harsh but that's the way of it.. I don't make the rules.

Should be a good weekend..

Love the way it comes as mark (original)miller. Mark Hartley miller is old school but is playing quality pool old and present..gotta say he is original.never heard of the other miller....maybe a money match to show the ORIGINAL lol

Tel u've been in this league 10 mins m8, THE MARK MILLER(retired long before world rules introduced)would have destroyed most of the players currently playing in our league and if you want confirmation of that you would only need to ask some of our longer(prop, eagles & unpred's) serving members of croydon pool.
No disrespect to Mark Hartley Miller as he is an original too and a fine player also.

mark Hartley miller is without douht a fine attacking player but having played with mark miller in the unpredictables before he retired he was total class, one of the best attacking players ever to grace our league,
in a money match there would only be 1 winner, the original mark miller and I think most old school would agree.

The Original Mark Miller was a quality player. First played against him in about 1985 when he played from the Horse & Groom. He had red waffle track suit bottoms on & a pair of shiny black shoes. I thought he doesn't look like a pool player, but i was wrong.

Think Hughie Telford, Eddie Taylor & Tony Nuttman were in that side too ?

The last horse and groom team before we moved to the spread Eagle and became the Eagles was
Hugh Telford
Mark Miller
Eddie Taylor
Alan Welshe
Tony Nuttman
Jack Wilson/Fred Green
Peter Frith
Mark Miller was like Metin but in an age where everybody snookered every shot he was a bit out of the ordinary

This is new school not 48 years ago...and u can't destroy someone if u don't get a shot....fact.i may of been around only 10 mins as u say Steve.but if we're talking old skool then with them old *******rules Dennis bloss would be the worlds most boring BEST...mark Hartley miller is still around and the current Croydon singles champ..

People did actually break & dish in the "Old days" the rules back then just meant if you missed your last ball or the black you were very unlikely to win as the other player would get 2 shots & they were much more of an advantage back then before world rules.

You could roll up behind a ball without hitting a cushion so get a really good snooker & then pick the white up regardless & pot any ball on the table, so people were less reluctant to go for it because thay nearly always lost if they didn't make it.

You can't really knock Blosse, he got number 1 ranked player, playing to the rules of the time, people sussed his game & played accordinally in the end.

Jumps, Jason Deegan, Paul Wherty, Shaggy, Eddie Taylor & a whole host of others dished just as often as any player does now. Don't think anyone is saying that Mark Hartley Miller isn't a quality player, just that in their opinion Mark Miller was better.

Also think its difficult for anyone who hasn't seen them both play to say who they think is better, thats like watching a film & then saying it's better than one you you have never seen.

would love to put money on it but unfortunately mark retired a few years back and I don't think hes interested in playing pool anymore, would have been a good attacking match which in my opinun mark (old school)would win.

How can you put money on it? im pretty sure the argument isn't who's better than who currently.

The original Mark Miller would have absolutely thrived at the new rules. He gave up in his early/mid thirties so probably didn't even reach his peak. He was still the best/one of the best players in a league that was arguably a lot stronger than it is now.

Very difficult to judge eras, but the newer guys do need to remember that the vast majority of the best players of the late 80's early 90's dont play anymore. That doesn't mean they weren't any good, and I woudn't want to be playing some of them for a pound note thats for sure.

And in the Miller Miller game I know who id be putting my money on..... Miller!

iv said this before but in my opinion the standard ov the top boys seemed higher back in the day but i guess it would do if ur a young improver working ur way up...i do believe tho the general standard today seems much higher as even the weaker players seem to av a gr8 deal ov ability n the rules today r a big leveler...would also like to let the powers that b i wil try n pop down n play frame for the old boys if possible n ava few beers

Ditto Andy seeing the last time we was together was 2005 whenn I was there ...... you can't keep a great bunch of lads like this little lot quiet for near on 8 years ........... I'm just wondering whether this current crew will be doing the same in 2039 ? ........... just a thought!!

This is a current update of the squads and seeing that we have a good turn out of the original "Old Boys" and after consultation with Steve Pantony, the newish old boys from 2004-12 who have expressed an interest to take part will play with the current squad other than Gary Swettenham who did play with the originals back in the mid 90's

The "Old Boys" won 16-14 last night cutting the overall deficit to just 4 frames with the score now standing at 32-28 in favour of the "New Boys" with the final 30 frames scheduled to start at 1.30pm today so should be a cracking finale to the weekend. Mr Brooker, it is a nice touch that you will be there to cheer the "Old Boys" on but we would very much appreciate if you could bring your cue along and join in. Total monies raised at the moment stands at ?320 so a massive thanks to all participants ...... It would be nice if we could top the ?500 mark after today so lets see what we all can do.
