Thread subject: CroydonPool.com - The CDPL Online Community :: Time to own up...

A rip has appeared in the cloth on one of the tables at the Farley and Dave and Betty are staying fairly tight lipped about who is responsible. Now there are signs up saying 'NO MASSE SHOTS- Unless aboslutely neccessary in match conditions.'

This leads me to believe that it is a player from a Farley team, otherwise 1) there would be no need to keep it secret and 2) experienced players are more likely to play the type of shot that has suddenly been banned!

So all I want to know is who was it... The table will be fixed before our match tomorrow so we aren't put out by it at all but I think someone is due for a bit of stick... Does anyone have any information on this one?

I'm looking at you Chuckie, if you own up now then I promise to only give you serious stick tomorrow and then after that I will leave it as occaissional pi$$ taking...

Experienced players are more likely to play a masse shot without ripping the cloth. Chances are it was someone trying to pretend they're good and failing miserably.

In that case it was definitely one of the loyalists :bite:

I make you right Mark, hence the thread. Lets name and shame!

I have a nasty feeling you might be right, it's our table that is ripped so the chances are good. There were a couple of names from the Dukes that popped up once or twice though...

Surely someone must know something about this!

I went down the Farley Thursday afternoon to practice for my Croydon singles match later on that night. I played on the right table (opposite side table to the one in question).

Without showing up down the Farley Friday and Saturday I popped down yesterday for a knock-about. And to my horror I noticed the rip in the cloth. So I gathered it happened some point over the weekend.

Asking Dave he refused to answer who done the damage (fair enough that is his right) my mind too favoured towards a fellow Loyalist. I have a few theories and not all of them are Loyalist based players.

P.S.
I am quite confident with masse shots therefore I am not stupid enough to rip the cloth with the follow through.

Thinking about it... Spencer might have tried being clever in pointing fingers away from himself... Hmmmm...

Hi guys,
i have not been in the Farley since wednesday, so this is the first i have heard of the rip, i would feel very concerned that IF the rip was done by a home-based team player they have not the bollocks to own up. These things happen and comming to know Dave as we all have, i do not think he would have reacted with anything except ever-so-slight annoyance. He is a pub landlord, and quite sure this is not the first or last time he will have to repair a pool table!!

I just hope the person responsible...whoever it is...plays in the league cup tomorrow against us, he cant hit toffee!!

Regards,
Rainbow

Anyone and I mean ANYONE can rip a cloth playing a masse Chuckie.
I was playing Pat O'Kane for a friendly ?100 on table 1 at Kentish Town about 5 years ago played a masse and ripped the cloth. Pat said 'dont worry mate I wont tell Big Ron' an hour after id beaten Pat for the ?100 Big Ron came in, Pat went right up to him and said 'have a look what spud has done to table1' little fecker :elol:

Reading this made me smile... Yes i was pissed off as the tables where just re-covered 8 days before but, it's only a fecking pool table... And, as Sean Pointed out it is not the first and, it wont be the last...Fear not Loyalists it will be re-covered tomorrow morning... That's how things are done at The Farley...
On a serious note... I know who done it... So subject closed as far as i am concerned...

I was trying that all of Sunday night Harry, it doesn't work...

It's the fact that Dave and Betty know who did it but won't tell that has me so interested...

At least he's having it reclothed. At Petts Wood snooker club they just stick masking tape over the tears and still charge full whack.
