Hello Everyone
As you will probably have noticed, the site looks slightly different now
Danny and I between us have spent most of today and last night doing a major update. We have tried to keep the site looking as close to the old version as possible with a few tweaks here and there as well as the new features that have come with the update. The new version of fusion (the technology that this site is built on) is much more powerful, and over the next few weeks I will be investigating what other features could be added to the site.
Thanks to Danny for all of his help in this, Danny's detailed knowledge of fusion, and my experience with databases has allowed us to perform this update without closing down the site, with Danny managing to get the core site updated and me getting the smileys sorted along with other tweaks and database information copying
You now all have over 100 smileys to choose from!
Avatar issues have been resolved, animated avatars work. Luke, I have created your avatar for you
In the meantime, its been a very long day so I have finished on the update for today. My final challenges before the update is complete are to get the hover box working for the last post on a thread, and see about giving more room to a thread title. I will look into this over the next few days
If anyone notices anything not working, please post on here

I will be looking into the centering issue as well over the next few days. Its fine in Firefox

Also fine in Safari on my Mac. There's clearly some code in there that only IE reads. Try changing the theme and see if it still does it as that could considerably limit where you look.

I have now managed to figure out how the hover box worked on the old site and have managed to incorporate into this update
So you can hover over a thread to see the last post

Now I have sorted out the alignment and got rid of all the centering
If posts, etc are still centered please press F5 to force the site to update on your computer

I have also doubled the amount of characters allowed in the main page for a thread title before title gets trimmed and ... are added

I've noticed that the site is very very slow since these changes. Does anyone have similar problems and are they going to be fixed?

Most people do not use the 56k dial up any more Dave you need to change your current provider :)
On a serious note i agree the site does seem to take alot longer to load lately? :ohmy:

I havent noticed any slow down personally but there is a change I can make to the hover box which may speed the site up I will make it later and post on here
Will modify the hover box so that it does not get so much of the last post, that will reduce the size of the main page
Is this the area where the slow down has been noticed or is it in other places as well?
