Just seen the email with the dates for these? Weren't these on Saturdays last time?? The one for my division clashes with Interleague and I'm fairly sure others will clash too.

Div 1 - 3 May
Div 2 - 10 May
Div 3 - 24 May
Div 4 & 5 31 May

Also wondered why the Div 4 and 5 one is combined this year when those two divisions had arguably the best turnout last time as separate events? Are we less important than everyone else? ;)

The dates were suggested by Hannah

It was agreed at the half year AGM that the comps be held on Sundays this time

Division 5 actually had the worst turnout last season

Hannah is aware of the clash with Surrey Interleague but is ok with this as she believes that by the time the interleague starts there will be sufficient tables to run interleague without disrupting anything. Obviously, tables would be reduced accordingly

Division 4 and 5 were combined because of the poor turn out for division 5 last year and the fact that if division 5 had its own week it would not be possible until June 28th even then going by the turnout last year it is doubtful whether a comp would even be possible for division 5

I have London Interleague during the day so it counts me and most of my team out as we're playing in the afternoon.

I'm really surprised you are saying the Div 5 day was the worst as we managed to have a Scotch Doubles comp with all the girls who supported it.

Shame.

I was talking about the divisional knockout competition

How about swapping the dates for division 4/5 with division 3?

its a joke putting div 4 and 5 2gether how does that work out...... how it should not matter about the turn out as long as the sec let there player`s no and if they wish 2 enter 2 play all well and b sort this out yet another joke 2 the pool league or are they trying 2 save money...

It has nothing to do with saving money Andy. I do not get paid for running these competitions and would not expect to. I run these competitions as a way for people who dont normally get to go into competitions, a chance to enter one for free. Rileys are kindly hosting the competition for no charge to the league.

Merging the 2 divisions on the same day was based on an idea from Hannah, and agreed with by me, partly due to turnout concerns and partly due to a busy calendar for Rileys in June. The decision was taken based on the divisional competitions turnout alone, nothing to do with the Scotch Doubles which from memory was started due to a small field in the competition.

However, Sass mentioned about the fact that division 5 had one of the best turnouts I thought I would just double check

Division 2 - 32 Players
Division 3 - 30 Players
Division 4 - 29 Players
Division 5 - 19 Players

The division 5 turnout was still low compared to the other divisions but not as low as I originally thought.

In light of this are people in division 5 willing to wait for their competition? June 28th, provided this does not clash with interleague. Alternatively, I could check with Hannah and see if 26th April is available. The competitions do not have to be run in order.

If people are in agreement with either of these dates, and there is good turnout from the Floozies, there is nothing preventing a Mixed Scotch Doubles comp being run at the same time. The Mixed Scotch Doubles competition could be advertised seperatly and players from other divisions allowed to enter as well. There are several women who play in other divisions, such as division 4

The players in the comps will be dependant on the player teams for the winter season, not the forthcoming summer season

I know that Alan and Sarah come on the site so I will see what they say then see what the rest of the division say, I think most of the players are likely to come from the Farley Untouchables and the Floozies

I dont mind which date its played and im sure most of my team dont mind either, Provided i can give them plenty notice then all will be cool. (Minimum 2 weeks).

Looking at your numbers posted Paul and it's a little worry that Div 4 & 5 playing on same date tho as Div 4 had 29 players turn out, Which was only 3 away from what Div 2 had. And im sure that ALL my players will come and all floozies ? that would be around 14 people i assume ?
Obviously not including the other teams in Div 5... But i can say that most of Oak, View and Young guns are likely to come. I'll bet that atleast 4 people of each of those teams i just mentioned will enter also.
The more i think about it the more i belive there will be possible about 30-45 people from Div 5 alone. Playing most of the lads in Div 5 and you get to know who loves there pool and who is there to try and mingle etc.

I'd swap with the Div 3 date but I guess from what Alan is saying it should be left as it is?

Good luck with it :)

Sarah, as both you and Alan mention full turnouts from your teams and Alan believes there will be a few from other teams it appears division 5 will have a bigger turnout, at least better than last year. Enough to justify its own day

I will check with Hannah and see if there is a chance of using 26th April. If this date is free then could use this.

That's the day after my Birthday Night Out so may be some Floozies with sore heads (particularly me!). Sounds like a good option to me if it's ok with the majority.

Can't promise a full turn out of Floozies but will do my best to get them there!

Would there be more chance of a good turnout on the division 3 date? I could still move division 3 to 26th April, if it is free if the dates are going to be changed then now is best time to change them before too many people make plans

I'd be inclined to leave the rest alone and just shift the Div 5 one to its own date unless there are compelling reasons to move them.

The April date is occupied with Surrey Interleague, am not sure if London interleague is on the same day

Just to clarify though, although it was mentioned to run 2 divisions on the same day, this was to run 2 seperate competitions, not to have divisions and 4 and 5 in the same comp

yea i understood that it will be Div 5 vs Div 5. not Div 4 & 5.

Nope. I've rechecked the thread and as far as I can see he's given some possible options but no clear way forward as to when the competition will be held or if the original date stands.

Cheers.

It wouldnt be a combined comp just ran on the same day due to the calender around that time.

Can you confirm which date woud get the best turnout from the Floozies? 10 May or 24 May

I propose swapping the dates of division 5 and the comp on 10/24 May

Just to reiterate these will still be seperate competitions

The Division 5 comp will be held on 24th May

Division 3 will be held alongside division 4 on 31 May as seperate not combined competitions
