Handicap system was a bit of a killer last night with only 2 Premier Division players through. I felt for Lloyd who was 4-1 down in what seemed like 15 minutes and his night was over with the scoreline of John 6 / Lloyd -1, that seems fair to me

Looks like the plate will be just as tough to win as the cup.

As I said before, this is the first time CSL has had a KO element and a handicap system tested.
Lloyd himself said last night that the psychological effect of having to effectively win 8-4 to take it to tie-break was too much for him. It's harsh, but players don't stand a chance if they've convinced themself they have lost before a match has started.

(Also, you're not strictly correct, as Hughie and Charles are through (albeit with byes), as will the winner of Phil/Steve plus Chris still has to play Shane)

You're right and I've corrected it accordingly.

Glad you're aware of that, Michael, I'd hate to think you weren't 100% on the ball..;)

As a sad stato (and being off work with nothing better to do), here's a breakdown of divisional 'success' in the KO Cup so far:

Premier
Still in Main Event: 5 (+ possible 1)
Through to Plate: 4 (+ possible 1)

Division One
Still in Main Event: 5 (+ possible 1)
Through to Plate: 4 (+ possible 1)

Division Two
Still in Main Event: 4 (+ possible 2)
Through to Plate: 4 (+ possible 2)

The whole idea of a handicap system is to attempt to make the field a bit more level. Looking at those figures, it couldn't be much more level than that.

Two bye wins for Premier players flatter your stats somewhat. ;)

Granted, but I bet if the byes had been Div.2, they'd have been used as another example that it was an unfair system. The draw is random, so you get what you get.

No one can say it?s unfair when I inevitably go on to win it.
