Thread subject: CroydonPool.com - The CDPL Online Community :: Good Luck Hot Shots

With all the hype and the chat this week being centered around the upcoming Croydonpool.Com Open (And rightly so..)

Most people will be wondering why Rod Altes and Sean Halligan amongst others are not entering this year.

So, for those of you not in the know, the two boys, along with the rest of the Hot Shots are in Great Yarmouth this weekend to participate in the "Champion of Champion" event.

They are the Croydon Pool League Representatives, and therefore, represent us all when they go into action this weekend, playing against the champions of every other top pool league in the country, with a similar format to footballs Champions League.

This event has been rescheduled from late last year due to some extreme weather on the East Coast at the time.

For those of you wishing to follow thier progress, the EPA have a section on thier website, which they have been known to update from time to time. . . .
http://www.epa.or...07tdrw.php

They are in Group 22 of the round robin, with "Griffin A" and "Lake Lothing"

I'd like to take this opputunity to wish all the lads the very best of luck, bring home the bacon boys.

Decorate them.

Good Luck to Sean and his Hot Shots . . This is the pinnacle for 'pub teams' and with the right draw and a bit of bottle there's no reason why they won't bring some silverware back from less than sunny Yarmouth . .

It's a bit of a travesty that young Nigel won't be playing . . Why they exclude Under-18's is beyond me but even still it's a strong team going up there who are equally capable of some carnage . .

Agree with you about Nigel. He finished 2nd in the rankings last season and clearly played a significant part in getting them there in the first place.

Good luck Sean and the rest of the Hot Shot boys. Do yourselves and the Croydon league proud.

Cheers mate. & Yes it is sad about Nigel not playing. You can play in your County 'a' Team at any age at Yarmouth, you can also play Interleague or the National Singles event. No under 18's for Champions Of Champions is a stupid rule, it stopped another oustanding player in Steve Petty going last year too. Anyway roll on the weekend :band: :chair: :juggle: :fan: :bounce: :handshake:  :one: :winner: :clapping:  :box::violin:

In no particular order

yes good luck hotshots in flying the cdpl flag...
it's a strong squad you've got going up there and if everything clicks then there's no reason why you shouldn't bring the honours back to cr0

Very much so . . To win it on their debut is something special and puts CDPL on the map with the league's first national honours (correct me if I am wrong) . . They represented in the best way possible by bringing it home . .

Congratulations to Sean and the rest of the team . . It's going to be odd playing a league match on Tuesday against the National Champions but with any luck it'll seem all rather boring after the weekends events and we'll take a 7-0 with us :lol:

well done hotshots, it's a massive achievement and something i'm very jealous of. as i said earlier i knew if you clicked it could be yours and you all did just that...
it shows all of us what a high quality league we play in and
it's a great advert for the croydon league, us 'southern softies'

i'm sure i speak for everyone in the league that we're lucky to have the champion of champions champions in our competitions but unlucky to have a moron such as cliff mills!

Absolutely STUNNING achievement. . .

It cannot be said enough, but a massive Congratulations. . . .

To go up there, deprived of one of your best players, and beat the best teams in the land is nothing short of miraculous. A massive performance, and one that we as a league one and all can be very proud of.

Magic.

Well done boys.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. Of all the things I have achieved in pool in the last 25 years this has got to be up there as 1 of the best.
I am so proud of everyone of my players and the support of young Nigel & his sister Sinead. The way everyone battled all weekend and showed so much bottle was unreal. Everytime I dropped someone they took it on the chin and the person replacing them came in and done a job. At times like this it seems a bit unfair to single out one player but Lee Bushell was punching above his weight all weekend and the rest of the team agree that he was our MVP. Thanks again for all the kind words and support on here it means alot. :one:

Again well done Sean and his team and Simon for that matter fro ultimately winning the most prestigous pub team competition available nationally.

However I cant quite understand what Cliff is trying to achieve with his inane drivel. Their is a rivalry between Hotshots and ourselves, but that is purely because we both have a goal to win the league that we are competing in. Nothing more and nothing less and certainly not issues that we will have an argument about.

Too inmply that we as a team would be unhappy that the Hotshots have won something is plain ridiclous. Jealous maybe but thats coz its such a great title to win, but resentful or unhappy is well off the mark, and basically makes you look like a fool, IMHO.
