Surrey Warriors 18-9 Croydon 'B'

Lots of new faces for Croydon 'B' who boast a squad of approximately 218 . . Not too bad a result considering the strength of the Warriors and from what I hear there were a couple of promising performances . .

Not sure about making players play off for their place in the squad . . Has Berty all of a sudden become Croydon 'B' Team Captain :?:

Croydon 'A' had a 'bye' tonight so nothing to report other than the re-signing of Cliff Mills who has come out of retirement to lend his pool ability and more importantly, vocal support . .

Seems like a bit of a cop out. You should just pick the player you want.

I think it was actually done by a toss of a coin but the players wanted to have a play-off instead!! I suppose its the fairest way as long as the rookies are happy. :handshake:

The fairest way is for the captain to stick his arse on the bacon slicer and make a call ;)

Incidentally, I understand Mick Saunders got 3/3 last night? Good effort considering he had player registrations, new players in the team and team selection to deal with . .

I personally do not have a problem with the play off route. I seem to remember it started at the time when I lost a few on the spin and was picked for the next game. I requested a play off because there were players waiting on the sidelines who I felt desevered a chance. When you win a play off you feel your selection is justified and if you lose you don't deserve to play anyway.

I am sure this will provoke responses of 'the captain should just decide and that is it' but ultimately we've always been a mates team and having a laugh comes first. Not advocating it at a higher level necessarily though, just biting on Golden's bait

I can assure you any response will be met with the apathy it deserves.

if there are so many players in the b team then why was there any need to hold a trial for new players?

As I understand it there was at one point an agreement where two players from the B's would go up to the A's, and this fell through.

Thus leaving the A Team with the bare mimumm and the B's with 2-3 extra players.
