Thread subject: CroydonPool.com - The CDPL Online Community :: New Poll - The Eden & Coney Debate

The result of the last poll showed that 26% of you fancied Paul Da Silveira to win the CSL II Division One with Jon Prothero, Mick Huggins and 'Harry' Morley in Joint 2nd with 14% each.

You can check out how they're getting on in CSL II here.

The new poll (found on the left hand side of all pages) is to see what you think of the Eden & Coney debate that seems to re-appear on a weekly basis. Does it amuse you or do you think it's had enough airtime for one lifetime?

Maybe a poll of who you will miss more would have sufficed....

Alex you could argue with your shadow mate :D

If the Coney are a group of gentlemen, shouldn't they allow the Eden to fold first ? It's only polite !! :bite:

We're not finish with you yet sunshine, unfinished business coming your way next season Patrick...

I'm wondering if the third best team in Div 2 has ever stayed up in Div 1 the following season. We'll soon find out. :bite:

Just to clarify the position Alex: Having finished 3rd in the 2nd division in 2002,you were "promoted" to Division 1 following the sad demise of the Tornadoes. You have managed to maintain your position in the top flight ever since by various subterfuges-regularly changing the team name, the home venue and of course the personnel. Perhaps I need to learn a thing or two from somebody like you who obviously knows how to make friends and influence people !! :juggle:

You should do your homework Patrick, we finished second behind the Warbank in 2001/02 to gain promotion to the top flight. We've never scrapped a promotion place in our lives! Let alone have a record of getting promoted and then getting relegated. Aren't your team called the Yoyo Boys?

The team in 2001/02 consisted of players still current today: Me, Keith, Truey, Scott, Sting, Arthur. Plus current registered player Tony Venus. You could even include Adam Hewson (now at the Prop) in that as he played for us until 2006. I've only ever made 5 signings in 5 seasons in Div 1 in the Winter league, Liam Connors (who is back next Summer), Steve Field, Donna Evans, Barry Watkins, and Rab Harkness.

I guess you would know all about taking players from your other pub teams.....Pond Potters ring any bells?

I expected more from you Patrick, surely you will go away and come back with something a little better?

Pat - Not sure what you are trying to do mate, but every time you post you seem to make things up about the beloved Eden -
Venue
Players
League Position

It seems to me that all these unfactual comments you are making up are actually more about you & your band of merry men :blah:

I am sure next season will be another great year for you on your return to DIV 1 - getting beat by everyone & moaning about the rules - can't wait - Sleeping bags booked :bored:

The Coney/Eden thing is even boring me, and in view of the fact we have nearly long forgotten about the Coney, we decided last night it's about time to shift our focus and as Pat has been stalking us Eden boys for weeks the timing of your demise couldn't have worked in Patrick and his pretty Pond boys any better....

Sorry Matthew, but you are sooooooooo yesterday's news....

I've just thought of a really radical idea . . How about you concentrate that energy into something worthwhile like your League Cup campaign?

You never know, you might surprise yourselves . .

It would surprise everyone else!!!

Alex,as I have already said, you were shuffled up to the !st Division in the summer league in 2002. You did not get there on merit. It was because another team folded. You,of course decided to concentrate your response on the winter league. Perhaps the petrol fumes on your regular trips from Essex may have addled your brain !! I am sorry to say that the evidence thus far would support this conclusion !!

Can't see any mention of the Summer league Pat, and to be honest we've only taken the Summer league seriously when we've had to, Knockout Cup Final in 2003 rings a bell. :one:

Are you playing your new signings on Monday?

And what division are we in now in the Summer?

People should get their facts right before tyring to suggest things are untoward. Very dissapointing.

Anyway do teams ask to be shuffled up? Or do teams refuse as they are so honourable? Just sounds like rubbush/sour grapes to me.

There is only one division for quality/personality and that is where we are in the winter.
