For those of you interested, our county are holding thier annual trials early next year for the 2008 squad.

They have three Men's teams, a Ladies team, and a junior team for under 18's.
You have to play in a Surrey affiliated league to qualify, which you do if you play in the Croydon league.

Deatils can be found here:

Oh, Danny/Sass. . . . You need to create a "County" thread......

And remember that the League can nominate two players to bypass the first weeks trials directly ionto the second. That said it is usually used for players that have entered Surrey comps in the past, play interleague etc. If you havent then its probably best to show your face at the first week, destroy the opposition and make a name for yourself.

Yes P-head ;)

John Hoy has registered, if there is a slot still available, perhaps he could be put through to Stage 2?

Saves him wasting a day at the lottery that is Stage 1.

I was unaware that League's had an option of nominating 3 players to the 2nd stage of the trials until I was approached by Michael Porter. I contacted the county sec who in turn put me in contact with Mick Lambert who confirmed this. To date I have nominated Michael Porter & Danny Evans and their is one slot available. Next season the places will be offered to the Representative Team who will have 1st option of filling the places and if there any left then they will be put out to pasture. I'm quite happy to nominate John Hoy if he so desires.

Good Croydon turn-out at Stage 1 yesterday in Sutton.

Jon Prothero, Lloyd Barnes, Spencer Barnes, John Hersy and Paul Saxton all attended, with the first 3 of those qualifying for Stage 2 next week.

Jon, Lloyd and Spencer join Danny Evans, Micky Porter, Adam Hewson, John Hoy, Micky Samuels, Micky Saunders and Mark Miller at Stage 2.

So Croydon players making up 10 of the 39 players who are fighting it out for 12 available spots in the County squad.

Congratulations also to Terry Poynter, who qualified straight into the squad through his Interleague performance last year.

Look forward to more Croydon players qualifying next week, and joining myself, Shaggy, Andy Esgrove, Sean Kelly, Kyle Pickett, and Tom Jackman in the 2008 Surrey County squad.
