I was gonna say the same thing. But might as well quote what you said.
I feel sorry for that lady working in the bar... She had to make drinks, Collect glasses and make food all by HERSELF... that is just sad. there should be at least 2/3 staff in helping around. Especially in a busy comp.
I had a great day out ?3 for hours of pool. That's pretty good well done to whoever qualified. I also got 3/4...
Looking forward to taking part again. |

That's not the first time that Rileys has been understaffed on busy days. You hear things about Rileys offering ?4,000+ to stage all the singles and doubles beyond the third round. If they do have money like this to throw around, I'd rather they use that money to employ more staff and perhaps put the heating on occasionally!!
With regards to interleague, I really hope some good players come out of the trials. I've had 5/0 out of the last two trials, but found interleague itself is a lot harder - hence one of the reasons I'm taking a break! |

Personly i felt that yesterday went really well, it run very smoothly (largely thanks to Shaggy, Mick Saunders and Katie) and we even managed to play best of 3s in the swiss system rather than 1 frames, which made it the fairest possible way to trial. We got 20 runners turn up yesterday which was a resonable amount with 8 players getting through.
Runners:
John Hersey
Paul Saxton
Darren Porter
Mark Ramsey
Jon Prothero
Jamie Kay
Ray Tolfrey
Shane St Romaine
Halil Nadeem
Rob Collings
Martin Drinkwater
Scott Harrison
Dave Truan
Spencer Barnes
Barry Watkins
Martin Duncan
Edita Tuckova
Mick Huggins
Steve Pantony
Emil George
The Players in red are the Players that Qualified.
Just like to say a very well done to all the qualifiers and unlucky to all the other entrants especially Ray Tolfrey who narrowly lost out 2-1 in a ply-off for the fianl place. The first Match is next sunday which starts at 7:15:
Croydon 'A' vs Croydon 'B'

It looks like some good players have gone through. Still not sure why Scott had to retrial - yes he missed the last couple of games, but I'm sure they were for good reasons.
So how does the A-team work? Don't they have trials??? |

I believe that anyone over 50% that played over 50% were retained whether they were A's or not. You may have noticed that Tony Jackson who was in the A's last year was not retained. Did Barry Watkins play for the A#'s or B's last year. If it was the A's his redord meant he had to retrail.
I also understand that Scott had to requalify as he had indicated he was unable to play next season, but there was a change of his circumstances after the retained players were notifed.
I suppose ultimately Hughie accepted the fact he wasn't playing and asked Scott to do it all over again. Scott did and did, so fair play to him.

I think the trials were more squad trials than B team trials, most of the trialists will b in the Bs but some may get in the As if Hughie wants them, with the 8 who qualified, 15 retained and say 3 wilcards he will now have a squad of 26 and he will choose his best 13 and the other 13 will b in the Bs. looks like both teams will b stronger than last year so could b a good year all round for Croydon!! |
