I will pay tomorrow if I'm well enough to go out. If not then I'll post here and you can scratch me from the comp. |

Here's a question for you Mark:
Yesterday I noticed that Darren Porter had been shuffled up to the premier league (having finished 4th in Div 1), and Knocky was on the reserve list.
I then look at the lists tonight and find that Knocky has been put straight into the premier and Darren has been put back down. Why has this happened?
I know that Knocky's ability warrants that kind of spot, and I'm sure that Darren would possibly prefer playing in Div 1 as he will have more chance of being in the money spots, but I'm just interested to know how these decisions are made?
P.S. If we do meet Knocky, I will give you one hell of a match!! |

Knocky played in the first two and only missed the last one due to work. I think it's fair enough to shuffle him up to Div 1. |

Maybe I was just thinking of the league format where if you miss a season, you have to start from the bottom again. I'm not disputing Knocky's class or commitment, and he will certainly add more quality to the premier. It's just going to take a bit more effort from me now to win all that money!!
Thanks Mark for texting me and explaining the situation so quickly. |

I thought this question would be raised..
Darren was not promoted to the Premier, having finished 4th last season. He was ?shuffled up? as Rob McDonnell pulled out, leaving a space to be filled. As with CDPL, shuffled up positions are not guaranteed until the season starts.
Knocky was in CSL1 and 2 and was in the Premier both seasons. As I have mentioned, I am currently on holiday but have been in email contact and discussion with the organsisers of previous CSLs (Andy Esgrove and Sean Kelly) regarding who should start where etc.
Knocky should be in the Premier, without a doubt and therefore Darren was shuffled back down to his original finshing position. It was an early decision to keep all promotions and relegations in place and to also honour survival. We would not, for example, have demoted Mick Huggins (the next lowest finisher in the Prem) to make way for Knocky if there had not been a space already created by Rob pulling out (and temporarily filled by shuffling up, to maintain numbers).
John Hoy is a different situation. He has ability, granted, but hasn?t actually played competitive 8 ball for a couple of years, on our understanding, so we have no way to gauge his potential in this competition. As for suggestions he will destroy Div.2, this remains to be seen. Don?t underestimate the likes of John Prothero and Tom Telford etc to give him plenty of trouble along the way.
If we had put John in Div.1, we?d have to ?shuffle down? one from Mick Saunders, Andy Telford or Martyn Drinkwater (honouring survival, as mentioned). If we did that, people would then say that the chosen demotee would also ?destroy? the lower division. We know the ability of these players, wherea John has been off the 8 ball scene for long enough to be deemed an unknown (sorry, John, I know you not an unknown but you know what I mean).
I hope everyone can see we?ve tried to be as fair as possible. |

Well since most of us haven't paid a penny yet I'm guessing the website will have to wait till we get our acts together.

What about Mark Miller being on the reserve list, if memory serves me he said he wanted to be involved in the next singles league within a couple of weeks of the last one starting and he's played in two of the previous leagues. |
