After 3 frames, the Warbank were 2-1 up, with no-one realising the surprises in store...
Frame 4, Pond in pole position, pot last ball, easy black to follow - only to snooker following the pot...cue a clearance from the Warbank to steal the frame...3-1 Warbank
Frame 5, Warbank on a clearance, miss a straight black...Pond clearance, 3-2 Warbank
Frame 6, Warbank in pole position, miss the chance, another steal for the Pond...
Frame 7, Pond well in control, couldn't finish, steal for the Warbank...
Frame 8, again Pond in control, miss a straight shot, clearance from the Warbank to leave them 5-3 up...
Frame 9, with two shots, the finish looked straightforward for the Warbank....only to miss the last ball horribly...fantastic recovery shot from the Pond eventually saw them take the frame...
A fighting frame 10 for the Pond brought on a decider....Pond well in control, only to give 2 shots...which saw a soft shot along the rail, meant to sit over the middle, actually go in!!!....A good clearance in the end saw the Warbank take it.
Well played to everyone....special mentions to Garry Rawlings and Gerry Nannery from the Pond for 2/2, also to Rob Collings and Halil Nedim (Happy Birthday!!!) from the Warbank for 2/2
We were 3-1 up, had golden chances to go 5-1 up, but didnt take our chances, then 5-3 up, to only go to the wire, with Rob Collings playing a solid deciding frame and with a quality dish to take the title.
Well done to all the lads at the Warbank for winning their second Plate KO Cup, just need to win the main one next time! lol Not a bad day to end my birthday eh!!
Unlucky to the lads at the Pond, who played their part in a close contested final. All games played in great spirits and friendly banter.
Top effort from Jason Cook, who did a stern job of keeping things together.
