View to a kill 2-8 Seamenband playing

Yes, that is correct, no typing errors!!!Shockmfg:

Our best result in a very long time, in a match that had great entertainment value - not always for quality of shots, but for a "what else can happen???" value.

The team deserve a big up for tonight, so here it comes....

Frame 1- break and dish by Chris Bateman...fantastic start!! I thought normal service had been resumed in frame 2 when failure to nominate after the break (with the balls begging) handed the advantage to the View player. Despite that we still had chances, but ultimately the View levelled the scores. Frame 3 saw the View odds on favourites, but a series of bizarre fouls (including one where ball in hand on a straight black was played too soft, giving 2 back) and a tenacious performance by David Wilson (who is new to the league this season) saw him take an unlikely win. Frame 4 saw us in control, but an attempted fightback was curtailed by cannoning the black in off. Frame 5 was controlled start to finish by the View, giving us a 3-2 lead at halfway.....

The legend that is Peter Brooks rolled back the years with a great finish to steal frame 6, and James Hills, in only his second game in the league, produced a fantastic performance to wrestle frame 7 from the View. Not be outdone, team secretary Steve Izatt brought home the bacon with another quality clearance to pinch the next frame. For his sturdy performance in the first half, David was rewarded with a second frame, and another gritty display massaged the score line even further, leaving Chris Bateman to complete the daylight robbery in frame 10.

Special mentions for Chris Bateman for climbing off his sickbed to bookend the match, and David Wilson, a rookie displaying unexpected doggedness, and both acheiving 2/2

To be fair, I think we did get the rub, and I'm sure the view are better than their performance tonight...another oddity was that Steve Izatt reckoned he'd never seen a match with so many in-off's....

A good night, good atmosphere, and good food too... I have no doubt the View will be gunning for revenge (in the nicest possible way) next time....

Mapletree 6 v 4 Stelfs.
Very interesting games last night.
Table seemed to have a mind of it's own on occassions, After the white made contact with object ball neither ball would go where expected it seemed to thatthere were either a lot of kick or slate was running crooked.
But having said that it was the same for both teams and the match was played in good spirits.
God luck to the Stelfs for the remainder of the season and see u back at ours next year lol.
