The league cup final between The Propeller and Rileys Unpredictables will be held at The Farley Thornton Heath on Tuesday 10th May

Rileys Unpredictables 11 The Propeller 5
A tense long match with some good pool played by both teams. The match started on the new middle table, but after a very long first set, was moved onto 2
Mev v Peter saw the match start tactically until 1 loose shot from Peter gave Mev the chance to clear up which he did well. Graf and Mark Miller played next with Graf very lucky not to pot the white off the break, leaving it hanging over edge of a corner pocket. After running out of position, Mark attempted a very tough cut on a red into the corner, giving away 2 shots to Graf who after a good recovery himself from running out of position, cleared up.
The next frame proved to be a tactical marathon between Billy and Chris, which probably consisted of more deliberate fouls than legal shots! After 45 minutes or so and an unlucky in off by Billy, the frame was over, Chris taking the spoils. The next frame saw Mick Samuel play Nick Poole. A more open frame saw Nick win after having a nice kiss on a ball to line up a easy black.
The final frame of the first set was between Gary and Fran. Some good tactical shots by both players saw the odds change between them. However, Fran won by playing, in my opinion, the best shot of the night within the Unpredictables players. After a clever df from Gary, Fran managed to pot a ball over 1 pocket and screw the white along the bottom cushion to cannon into and develop his last 2 reds, then clear up.
The first game of the second set pitted Scott against Mev. Mev played attacking but came unstuck when a df that was supposed to play Scott's yellow into Mev's red and leave both over a pocket resulted in the red potting and leaving Scott a potential clearance. After running out of position Mev missed his first attempt on the black letting Scott back in. When Scott missed, Mev finished the game off with a good black
Nerves began to kick in a bit as Graf and Mark played the next frame, with both players missing easy shots by their standards. With Graf taking control of 2 corner pockets Mark was unlucky to go in off, leaving Graf a clearance which he took out.
Chris v Gary saw more battles for pockets some of which resulted in balls being potted that were not supposed to be! Patience by Chris paid off as he took his chance to clear up
John v Nick involved John playing very attackingly then being snookered on a regular basis by a determined Nick. After several good get outs and Nick not managing to do much with any of his 2 visits, John appeared be favourite, until an unlucky in off, leaving Nick to carry out a composed clearance
Paul v Fran was the first dish of the night and was taken out very well by Paul who pulled off some excellent break out shots
Graf then decided he wanted to dish as well, taking out a good clearance to beat Gary in the next frame
Mark v Mev A good frame from both players saw Mark Miller play the best shot of the night by a Propeller player cueing a shot perfectly to pot one red and land perfectly on his last, and very tricky red.
Chris and Paul then played with Paul looking like he may have his second dish of the night. After missing the chance and being let back in by Chris, the nerves were telling after Paul missed a black into the middle leaving Chris a clearance, which he happily took out
Micky Samuel then played Nick in a fast and attacking game which finished in Mick's favour after Nick missed getting out of a tricky snooker when his black was over a pocket
The next game saw Mick O'Donnell get his first frame. After a good break Mick was unable to capitalise leaving Peter to clear most of his reds. Mick managed to turn on the tactics to try to keep Peter at bay. But after Peter cleared his last red, Mick was powerless against the very good double that Peter played on the black
The final full frame of the night went to Billy and Mev with Billy trying a soft break to slow Mev down. It was not to be though, as after some tactics and one chance missed, Mev was not going to miss his second chance to pot the black, and he did so, winning the Unpredictables the league cup

Nice write up Paul.
Congrats Unpredictables !!!
The scoreline suggests a stuffing, but reading the report, I imagine the Prop will be kicking themselves with some missed chances.
Sounds like both teams felt the pressure, and rightfully so, it's a great competition, with the distance meaning that the best team will always win through on the night.
From a neutral point of view, good to see the prizes getting divied out, three different winners of the 3 main titles, Unpredictables, Cuemasters and ourselves. . .
The Prop and the Patriots will certainly feel they should of / could of claimed one of those too, so the league is in very good health at the business end of things.
Will make for a fascinating battle next Winter I think, and one I can't wait for.
One thing that boggles me. . . Whose idea was it to start on one table ??? Madness IMO
The match was going to be at least 11 frames long, and look how long some matches take on a tuesday with 10 frames in a normal league match, let alone a cup final.
By the sounds of the first set, I'm guessing it finished at earliest 10pm ?? What time did it finish up at the end?

Crazy to only have the one table and no clock, this was in my opinion a greater advantage to the unpredicts as they seemed to make full use of no clock and rightly so if it wasnt used. 5 frames taking just over 1.5 hrs still ridiculous.
The first set finished at 10.15. I finally got on to play my only game at 10.20. I left at 12.15 and there were still 2 frames to be played!
The Prop simply never turned up and the unpredicts did with a good team atmosphere.
Well played to them and rightly so deserved winners on the night. Im sure they will enjoy getting the winners trophy on the night.
As for me back to winning the plate in the summer with the Warbank LOL |

When Knocky said the Prop were favourite I thought who is he kidding, if there was anything between the sides id favour the Unpreds. Congratulations for winning a real trophy not one of those Sumemr things that dont really count.
Even with run of the balls, others not taking their chances, luck, whatever, you cant deny that 8-2 against the Eagles and 11-5 against the Prop is as conclusive business end wins are ever likely to see.
Should be good next winter.
