Sadly, I have to report the death of the league's oldest player. Fred who was 82, passed away last night (Monday).

He had suffered a short bout of ill health, but prior to that was still playing pool the week before Christmas.

I am sure there are many of you out there in CDPL land who knew Fred, and I am sure a few of you have stories to tell too....he was a gentleman and a character....

Our thoughts go out to his widow, June, at this difficult time.

Well said Jason and absolutely right the point is as far as I am aware there is no-one who has a bad word to say about Fred.
One quick story from a year or so back we (Penge Con CluCool needing 3 frames to guarantee us the League 4 title in the final match of the season edged a very nervy 2-1 up on a very dodgy table after the first 3 frames, then up steps Fred opponent breaks and then Fred proceeds to produce one of the best clearences I have ever seen with balls flying into pockets from all angles and the league was won there and then.
You will be missed Fred.

Just a reminder that the funeral is this Friday, 3pm at Beckenham Crem...all are welcome, and I know that there will be a fair few from the league in attendance...
