Wink laughing

I agree that Mr Hartley-Miller is Premier Division material, but who would you drop from the Premier Division to move him up that wouldn't also have a massive chance of winning the lower Division? I can't see another option myself.

The way I understand it, Mark finished something like 13th from 16 last season, above Gary 'I'm taking my ball and going home' Swettenham, Charles Burrows and Paul Saxton, so I guess he should feel lucky that he's virtually guaranteed to make money this season (unless he wanted to defend his Plate title!) laughing

Or you could always extend the season by one more week, pop Miller up to the Premier and add Martin Duncan to Div One, as he really wants to play in this . . .

And Mark feels a bit put out by being placed in Division One anyway, so everyones a winner . . .

Come on organisers - make it happen! Smile

It might muck the fixtures up somewhat Pat but it's always worth a try laughing

Mark finished in 14th place and that was below Gary Swettenham and Dave Goodall who had withdrawn some time before . . Looking at the standard of the players concerned Mark Miller is an obvious favourite for the title but with the entries that were received there was no other option . .

In an ideal world we would have had a lower divisional player enter instead of Phil Wates (no offence Phil lol) but the priority was to fill the event rather than cherry pick players only for it to go wrong just before it starts . .

By the time this league has run it's course there will be yet more tables at Rileys so the relevant relegation/promotions will take place and things will even themselves out . .

No.

Not only will it add 'byes' into the schedule but it means recalculating an already published prize breakdown and players have already started paying on the basis that it's a 10 person division.

Should a space come up then Martin Duncan will be the first to know . .

And Miller should not be put out as he finished 14th last time so he has no excuses ner ner

Fair enough, but compared to the shit that went on in last years maiden season, I would have thought chucking a few byes into the Premier and a bit more money in the prize fund before the season starts would be easy peasy, lemon squeezy . . . Couldn't really see anyone complaining about Mark going back into the Premier where he wants to be.

At least you know someone is ready and waiting to part with their cash if any one player doesn't pay by the deadline.

Exactly . . The rules have been rewritten and measures put in palce to ensure that the farce of last time round doesn't happen again . .

In an ideal world everyone above involved will pay before the end date but should that not happen there will be ample people waiting to take their place . .

in my opinion and it is just an opinion

mark miller should be in div 1

where he finished last year shouldnt really count and he did win the plate

personally
i think phil wates and mark miller should swap places

no offence against phil
but
he is the new boy on the block and therefore i think he should start in div 2

on top of all this and again its only my opinion

i think mark miller is a better player then phil wates Shock:

please discuss folks blah blah blah

Again just my opinion.....

Neither should be in Div 2. And either of them will burn up Div 2 with the tank half full whilst playing with one eye shut & standing on one foot.

Longshanks would defeat Miller, 8 times out of 10.

Just my opinion....I'm outta here

I'm not sure that's strictly true - if there had been 2 divisions in the first season and a 'three up, three down' type relegation/promotion system in place, then he'd have been relegated due to his poor season.

In comparison, the British Legion don't belong in the Croydon League Division 2, but their shitty season said they did.

Unfortunately there are more 'good' players than bad that want into this and the organisers have to make a decision. In my opinion (that seems to be a very popular site phrase at the moment, so I'll follow the trend . . ) I can't see any player in Division One who should be dropped down to allow Mark to be put up.

No doubt Mark will finish at or near the top of the 2nd Division, as will the British Legion in the C&DPL. Then they'll both respectively get their chances in the Division they should belong in.

That's pretty much the long and short of it . . Be it Phil or Miller that goes into Division Two, they will be favourites to win it but at the same time we done the best we could with the entries we received . .

We'd rather there be this slight unbalance than cherry pick entries, turn people away and run the risk of having to do a u-turn nearer the start date . .

In SPPL it's exactly the same . . I am in the 2nd Division now having won the 1st Division a couple of years ago . . I left the league and when I rejoined there were already sufficient entries for a strong 1st Division and therefore I was put in the 2nd . . I'm a strong favourite to win it and it can be seen to be unfair on those in the same division but at the same time they can't turn my entry away, adjust the number in each division or kick someone out of Division One who is there be rights, just to accommodate me . .

We've decided division status as best as we can given the entries we've received and the resources available to us . . This won't be the last CSL so once the rules have settled and the league expanded, players will find their appropriate playing level . . It's just a matter of time . .

H, you're losing the plot fella!

One division with 20 players + . . . Hmmmmmm.

I believe the whole point of expanding was to get more people interested in playing. Your Paul Saxtons of the world who have enough money to be able to pay to enter 36 leagues with next to no hope of getting any return because the players are 200 times better 'just for the practice' are few and far between. (No malice intended Paul; just trying to make a point.)

I will pay to play because yes, I want to play in a longer match format, but it does nothing for me to be slapped up each and every week, struggling to put one or two frames on the scoresheet. I think in a lower Division, I may well be able to string a few frames together if I play well enough.

If that's defeatest, then so be it. But I know my level of play. Especially right now.
