What's the attendance looking like for this? Are the lower leagues doing their bit?

Haven't got a clue . . It has been circulated on the website and via the weekly mailshot so I guess it is dependant on the secretaries doing their bit and informing their players . .

It would be a shame for there to be poor turnouts considering it's free to enter and forms a formal part of the CDPL calendar now . . Not only that but this is the ideal competition for all those who cry out to play people of their own standard . .

These competitions can only suceed if people support in numbers so we shall see . .

I was under the impression that we had to fill in a form to enter this? Given that our names are now in a draw do we still have to do that?

Also why draw it before you know who has entered? You potentially could have 2 finalists with one having played several matches and the other having received walkovers all the way to the final.

whilst it hasnt been communicated i beleive instead of asking us to submit forms all players have now been entered. Our team will all be there, the question is how many others will be as you are quite right Sass.....it could prove to be slightly flawed....

Actually the more I think about this the more I can see it isn't going to be fair to everyone. You can get a situation like the plate was, where 2 people will play each other to get a bye in the next round as people don't show up.

I think the way to do this is draw it on the day when you know who's there and space any byes evenly.

Yeah it does seem like it could end up messy. I would be surprised if we got more than a 50% turn out for our division.

As far as I know, the reason it has gone this way is because of the timescale involved . . It needed to be rushed through as it only came into inception at the recent AGM and it was decided that instead of taking entries this time round, everyone would be entered and then no-one misses out as such . .

. . this is it's first season and in a way, it's trial run so it will all be noted and built upon for the next time round . .

Deutch will be able to confirm the details . .

I understand all that but why does that mean the draw has to be done in advance?

It's a shame really as I was looking forward to this and I can see whoever is running this finding the whole experience rather stressfull.

We were under the impression we had to fill out the form, as only 3 members of our team are going to be there, the others can't make it. Two of the players on the list, Andy Starkey & Danny Wordley both don't play anymore.

So these games will be BYE's for all players vs. flying machine...

33 HELPS.Paul Flying Machine v 96 SNYMAN.Chris Coach & Horses

16 GOULBOURNE.Vennie London Slates Snooker v 113 GORMAN.Neil Flying Machine

24 PICKFORD.Frank The Addicts v 105 BURRELL.Paul Flying Machine

52 REYNOLDS.Pat Flying Machine v 77 ATTWOOD.Stuart Flying Machine

51 OWUSU.George London Slates Snooker v 78 STOWELL.Chris Flying Machine

11 BROWN.Peter Pawleyne Arms v 118 STARKEY.Andy Flying Machine

10 McCARTHY.Jim Pawleyne Arms v 119 WORDLEY.Danny Flying Machine

31 CLARKSON.Darren British Legion v 98 SMALL.Jason Flying Machine

Only Me, Jim & Mark are going to be attending. Maybe we are the only team with a couple of people playing so the draw won't be a major problem, but isn't it worth finding out for each team roughly how many people are going to attend? If it is that low, then surley a re-draw on the day would be better?

I would almost be certain George Owusu wont turn up, so that is probably an empty fixture.

My understanding was that we had to submit a form with the players names on it who wanted to enter.

I asked my team last Monday who wanted to play in this and the answer at the time was nil.

Suggestion for tidying things up on the day....given that for all comps there will be no shows, for whatever reason....when sign-in deadline has passed, start at top of draw and play a few games that are available....than take the right hand side of the pairings, and work from the bottom up using them to fill the spaces on the left hand side....not a perfect solution, but it would get games on early, and reduce the number of silly byes in later rounds....

Feel free to improve upon the idea....

The way I see it, looking at the draw, it has been seeded by players league position at the time of the draw. I was sent a registration sheet to enter the players who wanted to play only to find everyone had been entered. So yes, someone could end up with a Bye to the final, or close to it.juggling

The way i see it. To be fare to all the players who turn out to there div.
singles is to have a open draw on the day. Allocate each player a number when they sign-in. Add that number to the draw-bag. put the number of byes needed to make a 1st round line-up in a separate bag make the draw at 12o/clock in front of all the players present .
you start the draw with the first bye then a player then a bye and so on until all the byes have gone and continue with the players only to finish the draw for the 1st round .

Have to agree with u odd ball
The draw should be made on the day
there r 3 of us going from the Royal Oak
I reckon div 3 will have 30 percent of people turning up just an estimation thats all
some players cant even be bothered to turn up on tuesdays
I think the Loyalists will have a few players and the imperials and the warriors and the forum im not sure about the rest

The timescale involved between the last AGM and when these competitions are to be played meant that there wasn't much time to get entry forms out and back in again, hence why the decision was made to put everyone into the draw and not miss anyone out . .

As with all competitions, improvements can only be made once a need for improvement becomes apparent . . We'll see how these go over the next 5 weeks and make the necessary adjustments for future events of this nature . .
