Might not mean a lot to most people but, i bet a few site users will have a satisified smirk on their face...there is a god and, it seems its not Proffesor Pulm...You sooner or later "Reap what you sow" comes to mind...Love it... |

It was hacked last night. Just the homepage and it would have been easy enough for Doyley to fix. Still a concern that someone could do that.
Much as I don't get on with Nik I know how much work goes into a site like uk8ball and I wouldn't wish a permanent loss of content on anyone.

For the record, Nik didn't have a problem with the new Croydon site and he is not running the new Surrey Community site which has been put up in place of what was the Surrey County website.
It is not a conflicting site. |

I'm not so sure he's happy. He wasn't put in a position where he could do anything about it. He was presented with a fait accomplis.
He has since gone into the old site and re-activated the forums that Golden had turned off. Make of that what you will . . .
At the end of the day this is all speculation on my part and to say I couldn't care less is an understatement.

Nik was fine when I told him about the new Croydon site and wished me well . . I personally have never had a problem with him and had it not have been for him I doubt this site would have been here in the first place so I guess we have that at least to thank him for . . |

So why did he switch the forum threads back on after telling you there was no problem?
Why does the new Surrey community site link to the old site rather than this one?
Doesn't make sense. |

Oh and I am grateful to Nik for hosting the old site. Without his freehosting I'm sure Danny would never have started the site however experience has made me become a little more cynical. |

As for putting the old Surrey site online, that is what it is, Hammond on a wind-up.
He thrives on contention.
He can obviously put what he wants online, but the fact he still has it labelled up as the 'Official site of the Surrey County Pool Association' tells you all you need to know about his agenda.
Agree with Sass, hacking a site and ruining other peoples work is a No No.
That said though, check out this exert from an email I got from Hammond on the day the new Surrey site went live...
"I'm inviting you to stop it now, or I'll destroy your site.
Do you really want me to prove I can do it?"
That was followed the next day by an email from our hosts saying the site had been subjected to a number of DoS (denial of service) attacks.
DoS attack is simply a case of someone bombarding a site with so many packets of information that the server can't cope and slows to a crawl. Kids stuff really.
So you could say that it's all quite ironic that his site has since been hacked.

The old Croydon site will remain online for two reasons:
1) There is three years worth of data on the old site that would be pointless to just delete
2) Myself and Nik are discussing the possibility of feeding data from this site to there as a form of static community site for the uk8ball network
I am sure that once something has been arranged the forums will switch off and remain there for reference purposes only. |

Regardless of what has happened on a personal level between individuals and Nik Hammond, he has never done the Croydon web effort any harm and in fact was a massive contributing factor in it all happening in the first place . . In the three years that the site ran on the uk8ball servers we paid a grand total of ?0.00 and that included technical support and free to enter poker tournaments . . I for one can't argue with that . .

There is a difference though . . Running a site and hosting a site are two entirely differnet things although admittedly the line between the two is sometimes crossed/blurred . .
That is the difference with this site and one of the main reasons it was created . . The website sits on my servers/hosting package and therefore the CDPL has complete control over the content . . |
