Right folks here are the details for the 2010 Classic
We are going with the Champions League style format.
16 groups of 4 (no one from the same country can play each other which suits the croydon lot perfectly and no one from the same family can play each other which is a problem for Godalming and Reigate lot.
Anyway in summary
16 groups of 4
everyone plays each other in a 3frame game (all 3 frames to be played)
Top 2 from group progress to last 32
Bottom 2 are eligible to enter the plate
Last 32 is redrawn.
After the draw for the last 32 there will be no further draws and it will take the format of a straight k/o
Last 32 and last 16 we think at this stage will be best of 5
No dress code

Ladies and Junior events will start subject to table availability (please understand this is an untested format and we cannot guaranttee times) but registration until 1.30
Payment to Dave Tootill, Tom Kennedy, Bob Taylor or via paypal to [uri href="mailto:competitions@surreypool.com"]competitions@surreypool.com[/uri]
You can also pay Hannah at the club
Entry fees are ?10 for main event and Ladies event. ?5 for junior event
Payment is required by Jan 10th or space will be lost.

Happy to have added you all - sadly we had several cryodon culprits who failed to pay and were not reachable for the last tournament.
As there are many of you that I dont know, can I ask you to pay Hannah ASAP so it makes it easier for the organisers.

As you all know, we are doing a champions league style comp with 16groups of 4 - playing 3 frames per game. Top2 advancing.
There seems to be a lot of early interest, and as a result we could change that format slightly but want to know peoples feelings.
If we got an additional 16 players on top of the 64 we could have 16 groups of 5players. Each match would be 2 frames and the top 2 still go through
How would people feel if it was expanded - ONLY IF WE COULD GET AN EXTRA 16 PAID PLAYERS OF COURSE

Can the CroydonB mob please pay Max Brooker or Nick Booth tomorrow night at Interleague - I will then collect off one of those. If the Godalming lot can also pay Nick or Max that will be even better.

There are only 9 spots left so you need to hurry up and pay. We decided that the first 64 to pay would guarantee themselves a place in the comp. |
