? The league will consist of two divisions of ten players. Divisional status will be decided by the Organisers as they see fit and will not be negotiable.
? Entry to the league will be ?40 and payable prior to 29th February 2008. In addition, a ?2 match fee will apply per player, per fixture for the duration of the league. All match fees are to be paid prior to the relevant fixture commencing. Please see the Payout Structure for prize information. All prizes are subject to entries.
? The league will run over 13 weeks. Please see the Fixture Schedule for further information.
? All scheduled matches are to be played on the relevant Thursday with an 8pm start time. Every attempt should be made to play fixtures on the set date and at the set time. Should a player be unable to fulfil a particular fixture they should notify the Organisers as soon as possible, but in all circumstances before the match date.
? Each league fixture will consist of 12 frames, played to current WEPF World Rules, with the exception of the ?one-minute? rule.
? In each fixture, the two players will lag to decide who breaks first.
? Matches are to be played on specific tables, as determined by a random draw carried out by the Organisers.
? All fixtures are to be played at Rileys Purley Way.
? A player will gain one point per frame won, two points for a match win and one point for a match draw.
? Final league placing will be determined in order of the most points won. If two players are level on points, the number of matches won, then the number of frames scored will be the deciding factor. If the players are still level after the head-to-head record is taken into account, a play-off will be arranged.
? As stated above, matches are to start at 8pm. Unless notified prior to the Organisers, a player will be deducted 1 league point per 15 minutes of lateness up to a maximum of 5 league points per instance.
? Also as previously stated, matches are to be played on the scheduled Thursday. Unless notified prior to the Organisers, a player will be deducted 5 points for not attending a fixture in the first instance. The second instance will carry a 10 point penalty with a third instance resulting in withdrawal from the league. All missed matches will still need to be played should the player remain in the league. These matches will be rescheduled to be played in the next ?break? week.
? Should any player leave the league and not complete their fixture programme, the following will apply:
If a player has played less than 50% of matches: All results for that player will be removed and become void.
If a player has played over 50% of matches: Average results will apply and will be applied at the point of the relevant fixture. All previous results will stand.
? A relegation/promotion system will operate for subsequent seasons with the bottom three in the Premier Division and the top three in Division One being affected.
? Should any disputes arise between players during a frame, the Organisers will act as Referees on the day and will have the final decision.
? Players will need to supply a valid email address and mobile telephone number at point of payment as all notifications will be carried out via these channels.
? All monies paid to the league are non-refundable.
? The Organisers? decision will be final in all matters regarding the league.

?The Croydon Singles League is intended for players to enjoy competitive pool, the ability to improve your game through practice with players of all standards, and most of all for enjoyment. The structure of the payouts is to ensure that as many players as possible have the opportunity to play in a structured league format, and the opportunity to win some cash prizes?

As he will, I would imagine, be in Division Two he will have a far better chance of winning matches than in last years competition.

To spare us all from the almost unavoidable bitching and back-biting, I have a suggestion. Firstly have Rod Altes registered as an bona-fide charity. All other participants could then arrange a direct-debit facility to transfer the money straight into his bank account. They could then claim their highest rate of tax relief on contributions. A definite winner !!

I honestly dont think there will be so much bitching. Players will only be accepted into the league if the organisers believe they will 100% carry out there obligations. They will enjoy it because they are playing people of similar standard, and irrespective of monies they still have to play towards promotion, relegation and seedings for the plate.

In addition 99% of the grief last year was people trying to get the smallest advantage for cash reasons. As the winner of Div 1 gets about a third of what he would have got last time you would hope the stab in the back ruthless mentality of last year will not be repeated.

From the lesser players point of view at least 4 new people in (Div 1) will be getting money they probably wouldn't have got last year.

Money is the root of most pool evil.
