I brought this cue from a friend about a year ago - I paid ?120 for the cue which was a bargain.
The cue is a collectors item and was made to celebrate a high billiards break by Joe Davis.
Since I purchased it the plate at the bottom has a crack in it, and I've noticed when the tip came off about two weeks ago that the ferule is a little lose. i.e. you can twist it with your fingers when the tip is off.
Because of this I haven't bothered re-tipping it yet.
There is one dent in the cue but apart from that it's in very good condition. I've spoken to JP and he's quoted me about ?30 to sort the ferule and get the dent out. Don't forget this cue is 70 years old, although you wouldn't think so to look at it.
It's one piece and I have bought a new one piece alluminium cue case recently for it (which holds two cues) this is worth about fifty - sixty pounds (I paid 45 for it but got it at a very good price).
Anyway... I don't really use it that much anymore so am selling it.
Cue & case - ?60. This is very cheap
So you are basically paying about 15 pounds for the cue. Why so cheap? Because it's taking up space and I'm not using it. I'm selling them both together because I have no need for a one piece case once I have sold the cue! Just PM me or reply to this thread if you want it, If you could pick it up from the Elmer in Beckenham on Monday (between about 6 - 7.30) that would be ideal as I don't drive.
Otherwise just let me know when's convenient and we'll sort something out. Cheers.

It's not with me at the moment it's living at the Elmer because it just takes up space in the hallway - but I might bring it home tomorrow and take some pictures. It's pretty much as I've explained it.
For people that aren't sure what cue it is this is a picture of the badge from another cue - THIS ISNT a picture of the actual badge just something to help you identify what cue it is. In my cue the badge has a crack in it from the bottom to about halfway up the badge, In the picture here the wood is in poor condition around the badge, but the wood is in fine condition on my cue.

Also this is another picture I've just found on the internet of the whole shaft so you can see the design.

Nice quick replies maybe I was too cheap! At least it's sold - Cue and Case ?60. I'm at Rileys tonight for the league cup - are you about tonight/or could you arrange for Hannah to pay me tonight that would be ideal as it's normally a bit of a trek for me (two buses)

Shhhh.
Actually Joe Davis cues aren't that valuable, they are sought after in the same way as Panini stickers are sought after.
Not great cues, made to cash-in on Joe Davis' name rather than built as great playing cues. But many cue collectors start off buying Joe Davis cues, so there is a market for them.
If I get it, I'll get Parris to do a full refurb for about ?60.
Value of cue would then be circa ?120-?150. But I wouldn't be selling it, as the 2501 is the only Joe Davis cue I haven't got in my collection.
If ?60 is the price, I'll be in Croydon later as Marcia is visiting her Mum.
Deal or No Deal?

Ok see you tonight mate btw I've just pm'd you my mobile number (haven't got my phone with me atm but will have it tonight) - just call me if you can't find me but I should be fairly easy to find what with the case etc. I'll tell the cue it it's going to a good home it will be very happy, it has tried reporting me for abuse on a few occasions now |

I hope that's not sexual abuse, Jake. You might have to drop the price further if it's been up your jacksie. |
