With all the hype and the chat this week being centered around the upcoming Croydonpool.Com Open (And rightly so..)

Most people will be wondering why Rod Altes and Sean Halligan amongst others are not entering this year.

So, for those of you not in the know, the two boys, along with the rest of the Hot Shots are in Great Yarmouth this weekend to participate in the "Champion of Champion" event.

They are the Croydon Pool League Representatives, and therefore, represent us all when they go into action this weekend, playing against the champions of every other top pool league in the country, with a similar format to footballs Champions League.

This event has been rescheduled from late last year due to some extreme weather on the East Coast at the time.

For those of you wishing to follow thier progress, the EPA have a section on thier website, which they have been known to update from time to time. . . .
http://www.epa.or...07tdrw.php

They are in Group 22 of the round robin, with "Griffin A" and "Lake Lothing"

I'd like to take this opputunity to wish all the lads the very best of luck, bring home the bacon boys.

Decorate them.

Good Luck to Sean and his Hot Shots . . This is the pinnacle for 'pub teams' and with the right draw and a bit of bottle there's no reason why they won't bring some silverware back from less than sunny Yarmouth . .

It's a bit of a travesty that young Nigel won't be playing . . Why they exclude Under-18's is beyond me but even still it's a strong team going up there who are equally capable of some carnage . .

Agree with you about Nigel. He finished 2nd in the rankings last season and clearly played a significant part in getting them there in the first place.

Cheers mate. & Yes it is sad about Nigel not playing. You can play in your County 'a' Team at any age at Yarmouth, you can also play Interleague or the National Singles event. No under 18's for Champions Of Champions is a stupid rule, it stopped another oustanding player in Steve Petty going last year too. Anyway roll on the weekend band playing hitting with a chair juggling shit hits the fan bouncing handshake  Shockne: winner clapping zzz :box:violin

In no particular order laughing

yes good luck hotshots in flying the cdpl flag...
it's a strong squad you've got going up there and if everything clicks then there's no reason why you shouldn't bring the honours back to cr0

Confirmed. They are still celebrating!

Sean says they all played brilliant and beat Lee Clough's team in the final.

Well done to the Hotshots! applausedancingdrunkjudgeShockne:winnerwinnerwinner

Very much so . . To win it on their debut is something special and puts CDPL on the map with the league's first national honours (correct me if I am wrong) . . They represented in the best way possible by bringing it home . .

Congratulations to Sean and the rest of the team . . It's going to be odd playing a league match on Tuesday against the National Champions but with any luck it'll seem all rather boring after the weekends events and we'll take a 7-0 with us laughinglaughing
