In my opinion which I am aware you dont care much for, there is a significant difference between urging your own teams ball to cover a bag, than cheering an opponent in off or to snooker themselves or wishing them bad luck. It was 10 all at the end of the day. Perhaps we should have said please dont cover the bag, and lose the cup final. At least you may have hung around to shake peoples hand.

Flukes Schmukes. . . . It's pool, and luck plays a massive part. You're always going to cheer a fluke when it happens in your favour, every team does.
The big Taboo is cheering your opponents bad luck, such as an in-off. That's a no no.
Strange pockets on the tables last night, nearly every rail shot jawwed, no matter how sweet they were hit. Swung a few results for sure, but overall think it evened itself out.
Nerves were rife in both camps, but it was still good quality pool, only two or three fudge fests, out of 21 frames, thats not bad.

The Oakfield were fantastic in defeat, a fine team who will be back on this stage sooner rather than later. Hats off, I really do have a lot of time for these guys.

Pawleyne MOTM was Darren Ball. 3 from 3, taking massive scalps along the way, and winning the decider under intense pressure.
Every player done thier bit though, and I'm immensely proud of the team this morning.

I'm delighted for everyone associated with the Pawleyne, we'll celebrate long and hard over this one.
Realistically, the division 1 title, and the league cup are never going to be won by anyone other than the top 2 or 3 teams.
So it's the KO cup which remains the holy grail for teams beyond that, and at the 4th time of asking, and after much heart break, we finally crept over the line in a final. . . .

I am the fella who recently got run over by a train. . . .

I'm chuffed to bits!!

Sounds like another nailbiter of a final...

Yesterday afternoon I was speaking with Mr Evans, and I felt on paper the Oakfield are stronger but it could come down to individual performances from the least known players. By the sounds of it, Darren Ball delivered for the Pawleyne.

I don't think anyone will begrudge the Pawleyne their first major title as they are good bunch of fella's who have been around for donkeys years and I am delighted they have finally broken the duck and won it. applause

I agree with the Power 100% on this one. I also felt that the Patriots were pretty strong favourites going into the final. They had a great end to last season, seem a really happy unit, and man for man top to bottom are marginally better.

A number of frames were decided by things that were out of the players hands though. I can count at least 6 occasions when balls stayed in the corner bags, when for the life of me I thought they were in. This was probably equal throughout both teams, however the Patriots had two massive roll outs for Paul Richards and Danny and untimately they cost two frames. I thought both teams played quite well, but something is going a bit wayward when in 21 frames there was not one first visit clearance. On small things like this are Cup Finals decided.

Irrespective of this I can honestly say that the likes of Darren, Micky, Sean, Clements etc who have for the best part of two decades stayed loyal to their local pub a winners trophy (at last) is the least they deserve.

It was a really good final. Slightly marred by the tables and the unecessary comments at the end, but a good final nevertheless.

It meant the world to Sean Kelly and i'm pleased for him.

Which tables did you play on? I played on the one on the left (looking from the stairs) and I thought it was pretty good.

I have no idea what the other two are like.

Sass thought the table on the left was playing " pretty good " on mon night...
Rod Altes and Scott Harkness thought the one on the right was playing "fine " on monday night...
No complaints from any of the double / single semi finals...
No complaints on K.O.Cup semi final night...
Guess i am at a loss to explain why on wed night " The tables where a disgrase full stop..
Unless its just a matter of opinion..

What a ridiculous comment!! 'unless it's just a matter of opinion' . . .

It was Sass's opinion that the table on the left was 'pretty good'.
It is allegedly Rod and Scotts opinion that the table on the right was 'fine', though I've heard different. Are we seeing a pattern yet?

But I think you'll find that there were MANY complaints on Wednesday night about the tables from both teams. I doubt anyone bothered saying anything considering they're not likely to have to play in a final at that venue again anytime soon, so I doubt there was really much point.

zzz

You find out after a while how people don't have the balls to say things to your face, so it's probably just another case of that.
